POLAR SKATE CO. - You Got It My Boy Jamie...

It's become a trope of skate journalism to reference the notion of the full-length, and how great it is that some brands continue to propagate this seemingly dying artform. Seemingly dying since 2010 we may add...
But, in a remarkable display of meta cognition and self-awareness, we're going to stop ourselves from doing that and instead celebrate Polar's latest release on its own merits, making no further mention of the fact that Pontus still loves to put out long-play projects.

The video, You Got It My Boy Jamie..., opens by instructing the viewer "The following content contains skateboarding that requires your full undivided attention. Take a moment, breathe deeply, and dedicate yourself to the next 28 minutes of epic endless stoke. This film is best experienced on a big bright screen, with good speakers and in the company of good friends. The outside will still be there when the credits roll—the messages, the noise, the endless scroll. We invite you to sit back, silence the world, and enjoy the viewing from A to B."

Maybe we were a little hasty. Celebrating the full-length is pretty clearly the central premise here - Pontus himself has decreed it! That'll teach us to get all cognizant and sh*t!

David Reyes' "Wild Heart" Zero Part

If there's one thing you can rely on with a Zero Skateboards part, it's top-tier big rail skating. And if there's a second? Epic editing from the main man Jamie Thomas. This brand-new part from David Reyes delivers on both fronts and is one of the most enjoyable releases of the summer so far.

While an honest critique might suggest the skating in the first song is, although undeniably impressive, a little unimaginative, by the time we're locked into song two there's no doubt Reyes has poured his heart and soul into this career-defining clip.

Making his debut for Zero, this really is no joke. We considered mentioning the fact that Reyes is fast approaching his 40th birthday, but that would genuinely do the skating a disservice. This isn't "good for a bloke of 36," it's just seriously good skateboarding from the Denver, Colorado native, and you really ought to spend the next eight minutes of your life drinking it in!

ROUGH CUT: Gustav Tønnesen's "3:2" Adidas Part

It seems a bit rum to post two clips from Thrasher in the same week. After all, even in the slimmed-down skate media ecosystem we currently inhabit, sites like Free, Pocket, Quartersnacks, The Skateboarder's Companion and the rest are pumping out quality content on the regular. And that's before you even consider the YouTube accounts of individual brands. So why are we doing it? Because clip number two is a rough cut from Gustav Tønnesen, arguably the greatest skateboarding talent in the world today, and we have such a soft spot for the man-bunned Norwegian that we'll happily forgo any arbitrary rules we've set ourselves if it means sharing a little Gustav with you.

Coming straight from last summer's Fritte Söderström-produced 3:2 for adidas, this is an insight into the wizardly skills of your humble author's favourite skater. Truth be told, it's mad to see him actually fall (if you've ever watched him skate in real life, you'll know it's a remarkably rare occurrence), but it's even madder to appreciate just how fantastical some of these tricks are. A balanced switch front darkslide at Molins de Rei? Get outta town. A switch pop shuv late shuv on the Besòs bump to bar? Burn the witch!

Honestly, this is too good not to share. Regardless of who was doing the hosting, we simply had to link it!
