GIRLS JAM: International Women's Day 2026
Mar 2026 by Route One

To celebrate women in the skateboarding community and beyond, we hosted a “Girls Jam” at BaySixty6 Skatepark in association with Vans. A big thanks to everyone who came down and to all those who provided prizes, refreshments and food for the day and to everyone who donated to the Women and Girls Network* by purchasing the limited-edition Girl Skateboards tees.

A huge shout out, too, to transkaters and Melanin Skate Gals & Pals C.I.C for partnering with us for a second year running on Sunday, and their support in both delivering free skateboard lessons, as well as bringing the vibes to the event overall.

The whole day was a massive success, and it is hard to pick our favourite part, but seeing so many people of all ages and skill levels from all over the country getting together and raising up the community was a joy to see. From those who had never skated before making the most of our free skateboard lessons to our own team killing it, it’s safe to say Women’s skateboarding is in good hands.

From there, the prizes rained down on attendees (not literally, that came later). From the hip to the mini ramp, the level of skating was high - especially when we headed over to the bowl, where a lot of madness happened, including our very own Grace Bennett hitting a rock to fakie on the vert extension. It was also great to see people showing off their creative side at our board decorating station.

We had the best time putting on this event and appreciate everyone heading down, so it was only right that we ended proceedings with the obligatory product toss. This gave a chance for everyone, no matter ability or confidence level, a chance to get their hands on some of the loot we brought from Polar Skate Co. Spitfire Wheels, Stance Socks, Carhartt WIP, Skateboard Café, Opera Skateboards, Slappy Trucks, Bones Wheels, HUF, and Element Skateboards . A big shout out to all the brands who donated to the event.

That’s a wrap for this year, so to everyone who got their first taste of skating at this event to the seasoned pros, see you all next March!
